We are thrilled to welcome San Francisco Bay Area-based artist Amy D. to our family of musicians! Keep an ear out for her first single dropping on May 17th, and her debut album Like You out August 9th on Unspeakable Records.
Kate Ellwanger’s career is the stuff young music nerds dream of: She interned for Daddy Kev and partied at Low End Theory, runs her own label Unspeakable Records, records and produces as a solo artist and is a member of artist collective Team Supreme. The Olympia-born, LA-based Ellwanger, AKA DOT, calls into the studio to discuss her latest single “So Far Away,” a whimsical pop tune that takes you to the hazy summers of yesteryear. Written, recorded, mixed and mastered entirely by Ellwanger, the track is exactly what people have to come to expect from this rising west coast multi-hyphenate.
"This song is about my struggle of being an introvert, but also an artist and performer in today's world where everyone and everything is so exposed because of the internet and social media. I know that I have all the tools I need, but I don't know how to get out of my own way and be ok with feeling vulnerable. It's something I'm always working on because my nature is to be more private and conservative, but music is made to be shared."
"Chak-heh. It’s a Korean word that means good, well-behaved, nice, polite; often used to describe a young woman who keeps quiet, who listens to her parents, who follows customs. A good girl." Read more about the newest single from Kelleia in her own words, and listen to the release here.
