Sonic Summer is nearly here! Beginning this Friday, June 22nd, Dot will be leading a select group of artists from around the world in an online program to create new music, develop business strategies for independent artists, and amplify each creator's authentic voice.
Through every decision we make, we have the opportunity to choose love over fear. Courage and bravery aren't traits that a few chosen people are born with. They are like muscles that can be exercised and developed over time with consistent practice.
We sat down with the Andorra-based engineer Jared Leopard (founder/lead engineer at Club Can’t Hear) to talk plugins, common mixing mistakes, and healthy workflow practices. Read the full conversation below!
"Sex is sacred. It wants to be delightful. It wants to be healing and pleasant; it is creative and expansive. I pray that this is all possible for people who do it and that we keep learning from each other, owning our voices, speaking our truth, and staying open."
Dot recently teamed up with Lucky Brand to share her influences, the stories behind her instruments, and new music video for "Silence Is Golden." Read the full feature and check out her style picks for this season here.
some thoughts: when you feel helpless to solve the major issues of this world, perform smaller acts of kindness to remind yourself that you are indeed powerful beyond measure. maybe you don’t have the current means to travel to borders and fight for human rights, or battle large systems put in place by generations past, but you ALWAYS have the ability to make someone’s life a little better. you can perform many small acts of kindness to anyone in your corner of the world, and this little ripple of love will grow and spread in ways you may never get to witness. but it’s real. be a light for anyone you meet this weekend. this is how david beats goliath.
in summary: take a break from writing “fuck you” all over the digital world and go buy a bag of groceries for someone in need in your neighborhood.
praying 🙏🏾 praying for strength, victory, and protection for our people as we resist our enemies. America’s infamous destruction of Brown and Black families is engrained in its history and it has never been okay. Today, our children are being stripped from their parents, thrown into and detained in camps, being challenged because they are FEARED by those who are in control.
Let us support and inspire each other to lead our communities out of this turmoil, out of this racism and xenophobia, out of this capitalism, out of this toxic systematic white hyper masculinity that has had the world fucked up for centuries.
Call 202-224-3121 or Text RESIST to 50409 (reply SENATE / if you live in DC text HOUSE) in support of SB 3036: the Keep Families Together Act. Don’t ignore it because it’s not happening to you directly.
Now is the time to make it clear that we ain’t the ones to play with.

i still can’t keep time
Sonic Summer is less than a week away!! Psyched to be teaming up with @splice once again this season and hook up all of our artists with a ton of new sounds to work with over the duration of the program.
We've also got @jaredleopard from @clubcanthear on board this summer, so if you’re serious about having your songs start stacking up to commercial releases on a competitive level (consoles, tape machines, dynamics, loudness, EQ, compression and more), he will be showing us some crazy good strategies for elevating your music!!
Check the link in my bio for more info on how to join this season's artist development program ⚡️⚡️⚡️

low end theory appreciation post. i can't fit my respect and gratitude in a caption, but i gotta share some love today. low end changed the way i hear music. what an era. what an incredible act of service to music. i'm just in awe of what you guys have created over the years, and the immeasurable ways it has pushed independent music forward. what a home you've provided to so many, artists and music appreciators alike. i feel extremely lucky to have witnessed so many of my musical heros perform there, and to have had a dozen+ incredible opportunities to share my own music in the same space... beat sets, live shows, invitationals... all unforgettable times for me personally, and made me into the producer/musician that i'm continually growing into today. i'll never forget the time i followed a surprise flylo set by playing a live cover of one of his songs 😂 too many wild and hilarious and serendipitous moments there to count. thank you to kev for sharing so much wisdom with me over the years, from alpha pup intern to artist to having a little label of my own. thank you for giving me space to share music and grow as an artist before even knew what the heck was going on or what i wanted (i still don't but that's life). so much love to elvin for teaching me everything i know about hip hop and the 60s, and for bringing me out of my insecure little shell. you guys are all incredible people. may the legacy live on forever 🚀🛸🚀🛸🚀
